my 5 week old suddenly won't sleep anymore unless being held entire time!!!!!?

my 5 week old was on an excellent "schedule" (as much of a schedule a baby can have!). he would sleep atleast in two 4-hour increments at night with one feeding between, and take a coule 2 hour naps during the day. i usually have to rock him to sleep.

for the last two nights and all day yesterday, i can not put him down without him waking up within 5 minutes. i have to hold him constantly in the special way that he likes (cradle hold on his side with his tummy against my chest/stomach with a pacifier). i can get him to sleep, then i put him in his bassinet, and within minutes his eyes fly open and he starts crying until i pick him up.

what’s the deal?

Why is my 12-week old changing her sleeping patterns?

I put my 12-week old into her own room (in her bassinet) at 8-weeks, and starting that night, she completely dropped one night feeding. We were putting her to bed around 9-10pm and she was sleeping till around 2-3am, when we’d feed her, then sleeping again till 7-8am…..everything was going great.
She’s never been a great napper, only napping well if held by someone, or in her cradle which is in the living room. She usually only naps for an absolute maximum of 4hrs. per day. I’ve been trying to get her to nap in her crib in the nursery, with no success. 4 days ago I tried desperately to get her to nap in her crib, but it only ended in hysterics.
Since then, she now is having major issues napping at all, and has resorted to waking every 3 hours during the night. Last night, it took us almost 4 hours to get her down for the night…..didn’t finally go to sleep till midnight.
I’m at my wits end, as I think I’m also dealing with some PPD and this is making it ever worse……please, someone, Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell me what you do for night/nap sleeping and how it goes??????????????

is it ok to let my newborn nap in his bassinet where he would normally sleep at night?

the reason i ask is beause he has a cradle that he normally naps in in our living room and i was wondering if it would ruin his sleep schedule and make him think that it is bedtime rather than night time.

how did you get your baby used to sleeping in the crib at night? my son has went from cradle, to bassinet….?

now he’s too big for anything but the crib, but every time i put him in the crib he screams nonstop, i’ve tried putting him in it for naps, putting toys in it, setting beside it while he’s in it and talking to him, turning on the crib toys, playing music, having the water wall (in his nursery there’s a japanese water wall because water helps soothe babies) on, but he’s 4 months old & 321/2" long, please tell me what you did to get your baby to sleep in the crib. thank you in advance. i hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving.
he hasn’t slept with us, i don’t want to start that.
